On Saturday, May 14, 2011, SHUZZ Action Team (a South Florida Based non-profit) and Native Shoes team up with the City of Tuscaloosa to provide Disaster Relief for Victims of the Alabama Tornados. Thousands of shoes will be distributed to families throughout Tuscaloosa that have been displaced or affected by recent storms. Shoes will be distributed to the over 500 families at this first distribution. Volunteers from South Florida will fly to the affected areas and set up two distribution centers. The following are the times and locations of the distribution of shoes and relief supplies. 11am· Belk Activity Center – Bowers Park, Tuscaloosa Alabama 2 pm· Rosedale Court – Tuscaloosa Housing Authority This teaming effort will also include volunteer participation by Hair Reflections, Just for Hair/Cry Baby Mascara, Enzo Milano, Shine Salon and Blackbyrd Group. “On behalf of the City of Tuscaloosa we are truly grateful to SHUZZ and Native Shoes for this generous donation. The donations of shoes are essential to the care and safety of those affected by the April 27 tornado. It is organizations like SHUZZ and Native Shoes that continue to demonstrate the kindness and compassion others have for not only individuals in Tuscaloosa, but the state of Alabama as well,” -Mayor Maddox said. Plans are currently being made for future relief missions with additional community partners, participating in the much needed aid and efforts.
